The most obvious would be to pack some waterproof matches and a few butane lighters into your survival kit, but if you become separated from the kit you need to find other ways to coax a flame out of some wood. If the disaster hasn’t blocked out the sun with clouds, you can use the bottom of a soda can or beer can to reflect and concentrate sunlight onto a bit of dry tinder. Alternatively, with no other options you can create a bow to rub sticks together and create enough friction heat to light some tinder. By doing this you can create a fire for both cooking and water purification, not to mention heat.
