Imagine building your dream luxury home absolutely anywhere in any crevice, glacier, forest or ravine in the world. See some houses in weird places. Some you may want to inhabit, others…not so much.
Houses in Weird Places

The Stone House in Portugal is quite something spectacular. The house is actually situated in a weird place. Constructed between two rocks the home looks like it’s been squeezed between the massive stone structures when in fact it was carved out of the one huge piece of rock. It is a private residence but is a major attraction for locals and tourists alike. It certainly holds a lot of appeal in the way of design.
The Toilet House situated in the middle of clearing. This is certainly weird in the way of everything. The house was built by Sim Jae-Duck, who also happens to be the Chairman of the General Assembly of the World Toilet Association, to bring attention to the world’s need for better sanitation. As much as anyone may think it’s a bit of toilet humour to live in a loo one cannot dispute the awesome design that went into this completely weird house.

The Takashi Kobayashi tree house is one of many that the famous tree house designer has put out into the universe. This extremely weird house placed in a weird location is built in one solitary tree located in the middle of a field. The house is an oval bird’s nest with a circular staircase from the ground up for easy access. The tree house was built for an advert for Nestle who decided to gift the structure to the town of Hokkaido after filming finished.
The Thomas Point Shoal lighthouse is not your normal lighthouse. You can’t really say it’s built in a weird place but it certainly is a weird lighthouse. It seems this little house / lighthouse is something of a monument and has extremely interesting history behind it.
All of these places are most interesting on the outside but one has to wonder what some of the houses in weird places look like inside. That’s the next story.
Vida Denning is a freelance writer who just wrote on a house for sale Cape Ferrat and luxury property Meribel when she stumbled upon homes built in completely weird places.
